So why do you need a doctor's note? Just cuz that's their policy? The ER tends to very expensive for most people in the US..maybe thats why theyre cautioning you against going. Id be familiar with your health plan before u go.

I went in February because I had a 100.3 degree fever- for mouth thermometers anything above 100 is a fever. and I went to the ER to see what was wrong, and it's cause I had covid. So they gave me a doctors note for the week. Today I had a fever of 100.6 so I went to the ER, to see if it's anything and it's just a sinus infection. So now I have a note for today to not come in, so I don't get pointed. It's in the employers policy.

Thats a very low fever to go to the ER for. Next time I would go to urgent care or a regular doctors visit. Are you familiar with your health insurance and how much the ER visits will cost?

$250 copay. And urgent care is closed. So if I went in the morning, I wouldn't of gotten a note for the day I needed the note.

They were saying it's "using the ER's resources"

Nothing wrong with that at all. You're probably looking at a hospital bill of a few thousand dollars, but if you don't mind that, who's to say you're wrong?
