I hate when History channels on Youtube randomly cut to the ugly face of their narrator. amirite?

Now this is funny.

Because that is what our faces look like? We don't necessarily have enough B-roll, photos or documents to show on screen for a whole video. Eventually you hit a point in the video where you don't have something else visible, so you cut to yourself If theyre using historic footage they likely have to pay for it, too. that's pretty expensive

OK, consider this. Every animation they do (map, troop movements, troop positioning) costs time and therefore money. Every bit of historical footage they use is likely owned by an archive and requires paying royalties to use. Many historical photos will likewise require paying royalties for use Even stock footage of the locations today requires paying royalties And you can't just sit on blank screens. So what's the alternative?

They do it w nature documentaries too. 3/4 of the entire video is about the scientists involved.

I think a lot of people have a specific different voice that they use for pre-recorded videos however for livestreams they just use their normal talking voice(maybe use of ai voice software??)

Because TV time is the only way they'll tell their story.
