+40 Advertisements are the shallowest form of "art", amirite?

I get where you're coming from, but isn't all art kinda selling something, even if it's just an idea or emotion? Some ads def push creative boundaries. Does the intent really devalue the craft?

I meen, game trailers are also Ad's and I think some trailers are really cool. Not sure how that makes them shallow if they are trying to sell you a product they spent many months to years working on?

Idk......the Volvo advert with Jean Claude Van Damme is one of the most beautiful things I've seen to this day. The only other filmed scene that comes close for me, is the twin sunset from ANH.

That doesn't make sense. I can re-purpose a Picasso to sell my piss. It's the same art.

Literally any art that is sold is the "shallowest form of art" by your definition then. Someone makes a painting for the EXACT same idea "buy this thing"
