An ADHD diagnosis is often sought by parents to excuse their child's shortcomings, amirite?

There's a name I haven't heard from a long time. A 90s reference! Is he still around?
by New_Collection1 week ago
Nah, too many cigs and painkillers
by Ok-Guess50491 week ago
So it's pretty unlikely that I am him, isn't it?

This and lazy teachers pushing it

Yep. Can't manage a classroom? Never mind! You can just have all the boys medicated!

Uh, no. ADHD meds don't work like you think/ Do you know what ADHD meds do for kids who don't have ADHD? They make them wired. They jump off the walls. This is why people buy ADHD meds illegally. I had a student who made a lot of $$ by selling his ADHD meds. ON the meds. he was reasonably calm. OFF the meds, he was unable to sit still. I had a nephew with ADHD. His mom didn't want him on meds, so she gave him caffeinated beverages (not recommended) to settle him down. ADHD meds are speed, not sedatives.

The dose is the key, not the diagnosis. College students without ADHD abuse ADHD meds to help them study. It doesn't get them wired and jumping off walls. Conversely, people with ADHD will get wired if they take too much.

You just like, made that up from your own speculation

Which part do you think I made up?

You're suggesting adderall affects everyone the same. That's just flat out wrong

The dose is important, but so is the diagnosis.

Amphetamines don't magically have different effects in people with an ADHD diagnosis. That's really not how it works!
by New_Collection1 week ago
Yeah they do lol. People with ADHD have a literal difference in brain receptors. When I take a high dose of Adderall, I act normal. When someone without ADHD takes it, they tweak. There's a lot of meds that affect people differently depending on if they need it or not lol

"People with ADHD have a literal difference in brain receptors." And is that an uncontested scientific fact? Which receptors, prithee?
by New_Collection1 week ago
Exactly! This is parents too Let's be honest you can train any dog to behave don't tell me you can't train a child

I say this as a person with ADHD who has never medicated and raised six children half with ADHD There are many positive traits associated with ADHD we all need to learn to play the cards we are dealt
by Anonymous1 week ago
Yep and the ones that do need help most likely have undiagnosed autism
