+34 A Burrito Bowl is Not a Burrito, It Is a Salad, amirite?

by Agreeable_Debt_9487 1 week ago

A salad usually contains cold and raw ingredients. A burrito bowl is like unwrapping a burrito and putting it all into a bowl. Would you call a poke bowl a salad too?

by dell64 1 week ago

Unironically a lot of native hawaiians say that what is typically sold as a poke bowl in the mainland is not close to real poke (and I agree) so they just call the continental poke bowls "raw fish salads" in jest.

by Dnikolaus 1 week ago

All foods are salads

by melanytowne 1 week ago

I'd say a poke bowl is more of a salad than a burrito bowl could ever be

by Anonymous 1 week ago

A burrito often includes raw lettuce.

by Pleasant-Possible 1 week ago

You are right, I do not have a burrito. I have a burrito bowl.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I'm currently eating a sandwich bowl. It's mostly lettuce and tomatoes and lacks the fundamental requirements for the term, but I call it a sandwich bowl because it makes me feel less sad.

by Johnniewunsch 1 week ago

My go to sandwich bowl for when im feeling sad is bourbon and ice.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I feel like this is the natural evolution of "Is water wet?"

by Anonymous 1 week ago

You just broke op lol

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Steak rice black beans and queso is a salad?

by Anonymous 1 week ago

How is it a salad in any sense? If someone gave you flank steak and rice you would never say thanks for the salad.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

What's in tuna salad? What about pasta salad? Salad is just a bunch of ingredients mixed up together.

by Practical_Rush 1 week ago

They're cold and there are vegetables in them. But by all means, call spaghetti and meatballs a salad if you want.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Those things do not have to have vegetables.

by Practical_Rush 1 week ago

Tf kinda pasta salad doesn't have vegetables

by Anonymous 1 week ago

You have no idea how many times I've seen "pasta salad" in the store that is literally just pasta and mayonnaise. It's extremely common.

by Practical_Rush 1 week ago

Wow

by Anonymous 1 week ago

you would call is steak and rice bowl

by Anonymous 1 week ago

No one would call it a burrito. Wed call it a burrito bowl.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

The bowl for a taco salad is made of a taco shell in my experience.

by Inevitable_Book6194 1 week ago

No, that's not how that works.

by DryExchange3130 1 week ago

What about a "burrito salad"?

by Kaleb25 1 week ago

Nah, I have a burrito bowl. Just like how when I order cooked beef with cheese between two pieces of bread, I have a cheeseburger, not a sandwich.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Meatloaf or hamburger steak? Meatloaf is baked and loaf shaped.

by Direct_Cheesecake419 1 week ago

That's an entirely different dish at that point tho

by Kirsten34 1 week ago

It would be a salad.

by Matt15 1 week ago

Meatloaf isn't puck shaped.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

A salad is cold.

by Open-Explorer 1 week ago

A "burrito salad" 😉

by Hokuneva 1 week ago

I am imagining the hand gestures when describing one thing from the next. This is intense haha

by camylle82 1 week ago

Thats not what it is you scramblehead. Its a burrito IN A BOWL. Your first clue is that we call it a burrito bowl. Imagine you want a burrito, but you want it IN A BOWL. You would probably ask for something like a burrito bowl. Thats like a burrito in a bowl or a burrito bowl. Its a burrito in a bowl. The bowl part of the name is used to describe the bowl the burrito is in.

by kaela50 1 week ago

Not every burrito or burrito bowl has lettuce.

by Basic-Primary 1 week ago

A Chicken Salad is not a Chicken. Do you have a problem with that?

by annabel06 1 week ago

So would you call cereal a salad since it's in a bowl?

by Anonymous 1 week ago

it would have cost you zero dollars to not type that sentence

by Gradyarthur 1 week ago

True, but it would have caused me mental anguish.

by Matt15 1 week ago

stuff in a bowl that would normally go into a burrito but lacks the tortilla, is absolutely not a burrito. That's why they call it a burrito bowl, and not a burrito. Might want to type "compound noun" into your search bar.

by Brock42 1 week ago

I prefer to be more precise.

by Brock42 1 week ago

Wouldn't it be a burrito salad? Sure.

by NoRelationship756 1 week ago

Do your salads normally contain mostly rice and beans with a tiny bit of lettuce?

by Fit-Adhesiveness 1 week ago

A salad bowl is a big bowl that you put salad in

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Well a salad bowl is a thing and you don't eat it.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

It's not an opinion. You're just wrong

by HelpfulIndication936 1 week ago

Technically, the correctness of an opinion is not determinative of its status as an opinion.

by Matt15 1 week ago

If I were to say the earth is flat, that's not an opinion. That's just me being factually incorrect. It's the exact same thing here

by HelpfulIndication936 1 week ago

Sure it is, it would be your opinion that the earth is flat. An opinion that is factually incorrect.

by Matt15 1 week ago

It isn't "waterhead opinion"

by kaela50 1 week ago

Chicken, beans, and rice in a bowl is far from a salad.

by geovannicumming 1 week ago

Googling and browsing various sources I've found that "salad" can be warm

by Complete_Accident_75 1 week ago

Yeah potato salad can be served cold or warm

by Tough-Specialist-149 1 week ago

I've never in my life seen or heard of somebody warming up potato salad.

by Pristine-Durian857 1 week ago

German potato salad is often served warm.

by townejacinto 1 week ago

What about a taco salad ?

by Anonymous 1 week ago

A burrito bowl is not a burrito, it's a burrito bowl. It's in the name. Steak, beans, and queso are not a salad.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

It's a burrito salad how about that

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Burrito bowl = the ingredients of a burrito in a bowl. Its not really that complicated. You're making it way too complicated

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I don't think OP has ever had a salad

by Anonymous 1 week ago

It's not too late to just delete this.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I was telling YOU it's not too late to delete this. This isn't an opinion it's just factually incorrect.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

It's not a salad because it has rice as the base. It's just a casserole.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

it's not a salad either, that's a different item. the burrito bowl is the ingredients served over rice the salad is the ingredients served over lettuce.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I could have a chicken salad wrap, or a tuna salad wrap. So, by your logic the mixed ingredients in a burrito is called Burrito Salad, and what you are claiming is a burrito is actually a Burrito Salad Wrap. The Burrito Bowl, is really Burrito Salad on rice and the Burrito Salad is really Burrito Salad over lettuce.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

This actually made me laugh out loud. A burrito salad wrap is such a funny combination of words.

by leannonkatarina 1 week ago

All served cold. Also burrito salad

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Op's wrong but potato salad can definitely be served warm

by Tough-Specialist-149 1 week ago

It can be served warm because you use hot cooked potatoes to make it when you don't make it right or are in a hurry. you would literally never pull potato salad out of the fridge then put it in the microwave. It's not eaten warm on purpose.

by Open-Explorer 1 week ago

That's not true we always eat it warm on Xmas day. Nothing about making it wrong, it just tastes better

by Tough-Specialist-149 1 week ago

When you eat the leftovers the next day do you heat it up?

by Open-Explorer 1 week ago

It's clearly a rice bowl

by Darryllittel 1 week ago

A delicious salad.

by jerdetorey 1 week ago

So… not a salad. Same concept different ingredients in the burrito. Contradictory. Not even an unpopular opinion, it's just blatantly wrong.

by ChipPotential 1 week ago

Not sure what a burrito bowl is but have had taco bowls.. idk seems self explanatory. It's a bowl in a giant taco.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Cereal is a soup.

by Perryswift 1 week ago

Salad doesn't have rice.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

A chicken salad sandwich is not a beef wellington, it is a sandwich.

by Ok_Dress8614 1 week ago

I mean I disagree, but I do feel better about saying I eat a salad from Chipotle once a week so I'll roll with it

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Salads don't come hot

by Aquigley 1 week ago

Why are you guys being purposely obtuse. A burrito is a specific type of dish where a tortilla is wrapped around the filling. Adding the term bowl to it is contradictive and makes no sense. Not saying it's a salad but it def shouldn't be called a burrito anything if it's in a bowl and there's no tortilla wrapped around.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Meat, beans, cheese, salsa, tortilla= every single Mexican food item

by Anonymous 1 week ago

What if I have a bunch of mini burritos mixed in a bowl with some lettuce?

by Hokuneva 1 week ago

It's called marketing.... also, convenient to know you can choose a specific burrito and order it without the tortilla.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

A Big salad.

by Brendonkihn 1 week ago

ok. what strain was it

by Anonymous 1 week ago

If I wrap up my salad, do I then have a burrito?

by hansenlesley 1 week ago

This is like the argument about whether soup is a meal.

by AlarmRough 1 week ago

Even if it was a salad, it's still a burrito bowl. It's not a burrito, it's a burrito bowl. I don't really have proof to dispel whether it can be considered a salad or not (But it does not need lettuce, so do you call every heap of food in a bowl a salad then?), but its a burrito bowl.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Burrito brain.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

You say a burrito is "preferrably" wrapped in a tortilla. If it's not wrapped, it's not a burrito. But other than that, it's just marketing bro.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Can't be a salad. I hate lettuce.

by Ed00 1 week ago

Okay. Moving on...

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Idt anyone has ever called a burrito bowl a burrito & it's definitely not a salad. It's simply a burrito bowl. That's why it's named a burrito bowl. Are you okay?

by Anonymous 1 week ago

But I always get a tortilla with my burrito bowls 🤔 I just like creating my perfect bite

by Ok_Wafer 1 week ago

If you put a salad into a tortilla it doesn't become a burrito though

by Friendly_Season 1 week ago

What's a taco salad then?

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Even if it is a salad, it is a salad named Burrito Bowl. Different salads have different names

by beckerclare 1 week ago

Does anyone actually call a burrito bowl a burrito? And I wouldn't call it a salad either, I mean rice is like one of the main components of the bowl. It's a rice dish.

by Ordinary-Sea 1 week ago

It's unpopular because it's pedantic

by Ferne94 1 week ago

A burrito is just a wrap so it's a wrap bowl!

by kris83 1 week ago

Nope, it is not a salad. Salad is supposed to be healthy

by Anonymous 1 week ago

burrito is acting as an adjective in "burrito bowl" notably, it's not called a "bowl burrito."

by Alone_Raccoon3583 1 week ago

A burrito bowl is what typically goes inside of a burrito. That's why they don't call it a burrito.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

What if I don't get lettuce

by ucollins 1 week ago

That's why it's called a "burrito bowl." It's a bowl that contains all the ingredients that would be wrapped inside of a burrito.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

That's reasonable, not necessarily unpopular

by Franco40 1 week ago

And a burrito is a sandwich

by Historical-Stand-237 1 week ago

Don't you think it's much easier to say "burrito bowl" rather than, "a bowl filled with the stuff you would find in a burrito?"

by julius55 1 week ago

A wheat flour tortilla used in the US for burritos is not actually a tortilla. Tortillas are made of corn and only corn.

by Anonymous 1 week ago
